- requires space in the hips, psoas, and
upper back.; it will open your hips even
deeper as it lengthens your back into a gorgeous arch. Imagine your foundation
for this pose to be like the tail of a mermaid or merman—a powerful and supportive
base that allows you a sense of fluidity. Your upper body becomes light as you
discover the extension in your spine. Mermaids are no longer a mythical creature but rather a very beautiful
reality on your mat.
- Come into Half Pigeon
Pose - square hips
- Look over the shoulder on
the side of the straight leg and then bend the knee
- Bend the elbow of the
same side hand and slide your back foot down the
inside of your forearm until it lands in the crook of your elbow.
- Lightly curl your toes so
they hold onto your leg as if they were fingers.
- Engage your core by lifting up through your belly and clasp your hands above the head.
Tip: keep a lot of space
between your arms and head, moving the arms away from each other and from the
head.
